In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Praise be to Allah who entrusted us with the earth to cultivate and provided us with crops and livestock to sustain our lives.
Ladies and Gentlemen, dear partners in development,
Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you,
It is with great pride that I reflect on the achievements of Al-Nowar Palestinian Organization for Rural Agricultural Development since its establishment in Rafah in 2014, inspired by a deep belief in the necessity of uplifting the rural agricultural sector in Gaza and strengthening the resilience of farmers facing complex economic, political, environmental, and social challenges.
From the outset, our direction was clear: to be an active institution that restores agriculture as a cornerstone of food security and social stability, working with initiative and responsibility to serve the Palestinian farmer, who has long been overlooked despite his pivotal role in sustaining our society.
Mahmoud Abu Shaaban
Over the years, our Organization has implemented a diverse range of integrated projects addressing the essential needs of farmers in:
Crop production: supporting seasonal vegetables, rehabilitating greenhouses, and improving production quality.
Livestock production: providing feed, improving breeds, and supporting veterinary services.
Water and irrigation: developing drip-irrigation systems and rehabilitating wells and distribution networks.
Training and capacity building: hundreds of farmers and rural women benefited from both field and classroom programs.
Emergency response: especially during repeated escalations and conflicts in Gaza that caused severe damage to agricultural infrastructure.
We have recognized that agricultural development must go beyond production — it must be part of a holistic vision for rural development, including improving household income, empowering women, engaging youth, and protecting the environment and natural resources.
Operating in a politically and economically unstable context, we have worked hard to build strong partnerships with local, governmental, and international organizations that share our vision and values, enabling us to implement projects with tangible and sustainable impact.
